Soda’s bad for you. Duh… We all know that, it’s something that everyone’s been telling us since we were little kids. But most of the time, we don’t actually what’s so terrible about soda, we just take everyone else’s word for it, of course, we know that there’s a ton of sugar and other chemicals, which are bad for or teeth and can also cause diabetes, but today, let’s delve a bit deeper into what makes soda so unhealthy for you. Trust me, by the end, you’ll everything you ever needed to know about why soda is horrible for you, and then some. The 3 MAIN Reasons Why We Should Really Try and Do Without Soda
1. First off on out list, we have caramel coloring, that feels odd, considering I usually talk HEALTH benefits, not terrible, cancer-causing chemicals like caramel coloring. Caramel coloring can be found in many sodas, as well as plenty of other foods. It’s added to, well, make the food caramel colored. Well, at the end of the day… It’s causes cancer, big-time. California’s Strict Proposition 65 is a list of a bunch of different chemicals that are known to cause cancer. It just so happens that TWO of those chemicals on that list, also just so happen to be ingredients in caramel coloring, which is then an ingredient in your soda, which is FINALLY an ingredient in your body. These nasty carcinogenic chemicals are known as 2-methylimidazole and 4-methylimadazole. Oh and by the way? 16 micrograms per day of 4-methylimidazole is enough to cause cancer, there are a whopping 200 micrograms in one 20 ounce bottle…
2. Most everyone these days knows what the hormone insulin is. Well, if you don’t know what it is, I’ll explain it to you, it’s main purpose is to drive glucose from the bloodstream and into your cells. But, when we ingest soda, ALL of that sugar causes the cells, YOUR cells, to become more and more resistant to the insulin. Then what happens is that your pancreas has to try and make EVEN MORE insulin in order to remove all the glucose from your bloodstream, so that insulin levels in the blood can go back up. This creates an enormous amount of extra workload for your pancreas to pick up, considering your pancreas is already super busy, making it have to do this, every time you drink a soda, is making it weaker, less efficient, and as a result, making you even more unhealthy.
3. Kidney stones are a pain (no pun intended) in fact they’re much worse than just a simple pain, I would go into more detail about just how awful the pain is, but I’m afraid that would get quite graphic, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. At the end of the day, you REALLY don’t want kidney stones, and soda makes you more likely to have them. Smart decision? Don’t drink soda.
